Negombo

Negombo is a lively beach town on Sri Lanka’s west coast, just 10 km from the international airport. Known for its long sandy beaches, water activities, and strong Catholic heritage, it’s a popular place to relax, explore, and enjoy the coastal atmosphere. This modest coastal town offers visitors a lively glimpse of Sri Lankan seaside life, with its bustling fish market, colourful wooden fishing boats, and touches of old-world colonial charm.

Negombo has a large bilingual (Sinhala/Tamil) population with a clear Roman Catholic majority.

LOCAL FISH MARKET

This busy spot is a picture of organised chaos, with vendors proudly displaying seafood treasures like crabs, lobsters, shark, squid, and barracuda. You’ll also see fishermen using the ancient tradition of open-air drying, where freshly caught fish are laid out on large sheets to dry under the sun.

As you walk through, you can weave between stalls piled high with the day’s catch, take in the salty sea air, and watch the lively bargaining between buyers and sellers. It’s a perfect place to capture memorable photographs before continuing your journey of discovery in Negombo.

PINNAWALA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE

Established in 1975 with just five calves, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage encompasses a 25-acre property and do not be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely causing absolutely no harm to anyone. Watch these gentle giants during their feeding time and observe them frolicking in the waters of the River Maha Oya, during their bath time respectively for an experience that could never be felt anywhere else on earth!

SIGIRIYA ROCK

Sigiriya, the iconic Lion Rock Fortress. A series of steps and walkways zigzag up the rock face, leading to the summit. According to ancient Sri Lankan chronicles, King Kasyapa built his royal palace here in the 5th century, with a grand entrance shaped like a lion.

From the top, the palace once looked out over the capital city spread below. Today, this UNESCO World Heritage Site invites you to explore its fascinating ruins, from the surrounding moat and elegant water gardens to the terraced pathways. Along the way, pause to admire the 5th-century frescoes that have captivated visitors for centuries

VILLAGE TOUR

Village Tour Sri Lanka gives you a chance to experience traditional Sri Lanka with all its authenticity. You will then move back to the village amazing traditional bullock cart ride, traditional catamaran ride and be introduced to a local, traditional mud house Refresh your self who will give you a half hour cooking demonstration on traditional Sri Lankan cooking & and enjoy your lunch. POLONNARUWA

Ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s medieval capital dating back to the 10th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site flourished in the 12th century and is filled with remarkable ruins from its golden age.

We’ll hop on bicycles and ride along flat, scenic roads to explore ancient statues, stairways, and columns. Along the way, discover temples, tombs, and stupas, and visit the spectacular Quadrangle, home to some of the finest Buddhist relics and ruins from a thousand years ago, when Sinhalese culture reached its peak.

MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK

Minneriya, Kaudulla National Park, where you can see wild elephants in their natural habitat. These expansive parks serve as vital feeding grounds for elephants from the surrounding forests. With the guidance of an experienced park ranger, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot and photograph these gentle giants as they gather in the cool evening light.

The parks are also home to playful monkey species, sambar deer, and impressive water birds like storks and pelicans. Your safari will take you through the lush Habarana jungle, the very location where Disney Nature’s Monkey Kingdom was filmed.

TEMPLE OF THE SACRED TOOTH

Kandy is a picturesque hill town set beside a serene lake and is home to the Temple of the Tooth, Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist relic. We begin with a visit to the temple during the daily ceremony.

The Tooth of Buddha was removed from his funeral pyre in 543 BC and eventually brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD. The temple attracts hundreds of worshippers every day and is open to the public, offering visitors a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s rich spiritual heritage

GEM MUSEUM

You will also visit to the gem museum and lapidary, where you can learn about the history of gem mining in Sri Lanka.The Kandy Gem Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, mining processes, and craftsmanship behind these treasures. This tour offers not only an educational experience but also the opportunity to purchase certified gemstones directly from the source, making it a perfect stop for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts.

ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

As Sri Lanka’s largest garden an elegant and spacious 147-acres (60-hectares) plenty of time is needed to stroll Peradeniya’s imposing Avenue of Royal Palms.

There are some 4,000 different species of plants at Peradeniya Gardens. The 10,000 or so trees, which are the stars, are mature, lofty giants, many of them tropical timber trees. Highlights of the collection include the Giant Bamboo of Burma, capable of growing to 40 meters height (130 feet) with a 25-centimetre (10-inch) stem diameter. And it can grow by a rapid 30 centimeters a day (12 inches).

After the tea plucking experience, enjoy a short hike through the plantation to a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding villages. Then, visit a Tea Factory and plantation to see how the world-famous Ceylon Tea is carefully grown, harvested, and processed.

NUWARA ELIYA – CITY TOUR

Once a favorite hill station during the British era, Nuwara Eliya sits at 1,890 meters in the cool highlands and retains a charming British feel. Locally known as “Little England,” the town is dotted with colonial-style houses, hotels, and even a racecourse. The area is famous for its high-quality tea, and later in the day, we will visit a working tea plantation to see how this world-renowned tea is produced.

There will be an optional walk into the hills around the town and also time to explore the bazaar. Your day is free to spend at your leisure. Perhaps head to Victoria Park for a relaxing stroll around a mixture of wild and sculpted plant life.

Hike Horton Plains, spot wildlife, then take the scenic train and climb Little Adam’s Peak together!

TRAIN JOURNEY

One of the World’s Greatest Railway Journeys. The train was brought to life in the mid-1800s when Sri Lanka was under British colonial rule. Travel by train from Nanu Oya to Ella, the most beautiful stretch of the upcountry route. In this stretch between Ohiya and Idalgashinna in a distance of 8.5km there are 14 tunnels (nos.22- 35), the longest being 181.09m.

HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PARK

Horton Plains, a high plateau over 2,000 m, surrounded by Sri Lanka’s second- and third-highest peaks. The best way to explore is on foot, so we take a guided walk through the grasslands, hoping to spot sambur deer and purple-faced monkeys. We then visit World’s End, where the land drops 1,050 m to the plains below.

After the hike, we board a train from Sri Lanka’s highest railway station and descend from 1,889 m to 1,097 m in about 90 minutes, passing cloud forests, tea plantations, and stunning valley views.

LITTLE ADAM’S PEAK

which is located just outside of Ella Town. Its a relatively pleasant and not so strenuous 45 minute hike up to the summit of Little Adam’s Peak and the stunning views are well worth it. Endless valleys of tea plantations and waterfalls. What a great way to start the day!

BUDURANGALA TEMPLE

Buduruwagala, an ancient rock temple near Wellawaya, Sri Lanka, is an ideal stop if you’re traveling from Ella to the southern region. Dating back to the 10th century, the site features seven impressive rock-cut statues, including the towering 51-foot figure of the Buddha, believed to be “Deepankara Buddha.” Faint traces of vibrant colors still visible on the statues hint at their former brilliance, offering visitors a glimpse into the temple’s historical grandeur. A visit here is perfect for those interested in Sri Lanka’s rich history and spiritual heritage.

Start your day with an early 6 AM 4WD Jeep Safari in Yala National Park, complete with a picnic breakfast in the wild. Yala is Sri Lanka’s most famous national park and is known for having the world’s highest density of leopards. Covering nearly 98,000 hectares, the park features a mix of forests, scrubland, lagoons, and mangroves, creating ideal habitats for a wide range of wildlife. Visitors can spot elephants, sloth bears, deer, buffalo, wild boar, and several monkey species. Yala is also a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 215 species, including large numbers of migrating waterfowl.

MIRISSA BEACH

Mirissa Beach offers the perfect coastal escape after a scenic journey from Kandy via Pinnawala. Its golden sands and gentle waves provide an ideal setting to relax and unwind, while a spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean creates a serene backdrop.

This charming beach town also sets the stage for an early morning whale-watching adventure, where you can spot blue whales and dolphins in their natural habitat just off the southern coast.

WHALE WATCHING

Begin your whale‑watching trip at 6:30 AM from Mirissa Port and head into the deep ocean to spot blue whales, sperm whales, dolphins, and other marine life. On the way back, you may also see sea turtles near the coast. The tour returns to Mirissa around 11:00 AM, leaving you with memorable ocean views and wildlife encounters.

TURTLE HATCHERY

On the way we stop turtle Hatchery. Local volunteers are always welcome to come and be educated about the dangers facing turtles in the oceans and on land, and get an up close chance to see baby turtles. so many baby turtles. The centre gets the eggs off the beaches where they’re vulnerable to predators and poachers, hatches them and then cares for them until they’re released a few days after hatching.

GALLE FORT

Galle is a captivating coastal city in southern Sri Lanka, famous for its rich history, colonial architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. At its heart lies the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Galle Fort, a 16th-century fortress originally built by the Portuguese and later strengthened by the Dutch.  The city offers plenty of activities, including visiting the iconic Galle Lighthouse, strolling along the fort’s ramparts for panoramic ocean views, or exploring maritime history at the National Maritime Museum.

AMBALANGODA MASK MUSEUM

Discover the vibrant art of Sri Lankan mask-making at the Ambalangoda Mask Museum, a fascinating stop for culture and history enthusiasts. This museum showcases a rich collection of handcrafted masks used in traditional rituals, folk dances, and storytelling.
